CAJETAN DUKE
It was an electrifying and unprecedented moment as Dr. Chima Matthew Amadi, out of his busy activities, undertook two separate unscheduled albeit surprise visits to Afor Enyiogugu and Afor Ogbe markets in Aboh and Ahiazu Mbaise LGAs, respectively. The humanitarian gesture was met with excitement and gratitude from the market women, who benefited from the philanthropist’s generosity. Dr. Amadi’s visit was a breath of fresh air, bringing joy and hope to the women who struggle to make ends meet in the competitive market environment.
The empowerment program was designed to provide a much-needed boost to the women’s entrepreneurial endeavors, enabling them to improve their economic prospects and contribute to the overall well-being of their families. At Afor Enyiogugu market, 50 women were randomly selected to receive a support package, which included a cash donation to boost their businesses and support their families. The gesture was a welcome relief to the women, who expressed their gratitude and appreciation for  Amadi’s kindness.
The visit to Afor Ogbe market was particularly special, as Amadi, popularly known as Mazi, not only empowered over 100 women with cash donations but also awarded scholarships to two secondary school pupils who were assisting their mothers in their various trades. The gesture was met with tears of joy and gratitude from the beneficiaries, who promised to make the most of the opportunity.
According to Amadi, “My dear sisters and brothers, this gesture is more than just a charitable act; it’s a reflection of my faith in humanity and the ultimate sacrifice of Christ for the love of mankind. As we celebrate the Holy Week, let us remember that love for one another, particularly the less privileged members of our community, should be our topmost priority. Love and sacrifice are the essence of this sacred period, and I’m humbled to be able to share a little bit of that love with you all today. May we continue to uplift and support one another, just as Christ has shown us through his sacrifice” he prayed.
Amadi’s visit to the markets was a message of hope to the women, who often struggle to access resources and support. The philanthropist’s gesture demonstrated that there are still good Samaritans who care about the welfare of others and are willing to make a positive impact in their communities.
The impact of Amadi’s visit will be felt for a long time to come. The women who benefited from the empowerment program are expected to use the resources to improve their businesses, support their families, and contribute to the economic development of their communities. The scholarship award will also enable the two secondary school pupils to pursue their education, potentially changing the trajectory of their lives.
The traders, market women as well as other artisans, even passersby who witnessed Amadi’s humanitarian gestures in this season of love commended him for his beautiful efforts, prayed and wished him well in all his endeavors.
Dr. Amadi was accompanied by few of his friends and associates as well as members of his fastest growing mass movement, the Mazi Organisation.
