Being true to his desire of taking Imo State to a greater height, a business tycoon, and academic scholar, Dr Chima Amadi has delved into what should be done for the advancement of Imo State.
Dr Amadi popularly addressed as Mazi Gburugburu, disclosed this on Friday while addressing Imolites that cut across the 27 Local Government Area in the State, over the need to make the right choice on who should pilot the affairs of the state come 2027.
The event which was organized by The Mass Progressive Network INC. In partnership with The Mazi Gburugburu Group took place on Friday, April 18, 2025, in Owerri, the state capital.
Dr Amadi speaking on the topic: “Before Nigeria leaves Imo Behind; SEE My Vision for a New Imo, pointed out that the acronym,”SEE” which entails – Security, Economy, and Education, is a term he used to sum up all the three cardinal issues that binds every other issue the state is faced with, and what must be done to address it.
Dwelling on the issue of security in the state, he averred that there was a time Imo State was considered the most peaceful state in the country to the extent that people leave there States to come and enjoy in Imo.
The Ngor Okpala born philanthropist continued that this is no longer the case due to the on going agitation, which has given rise to armed secret groups in not just in the state, but other Southeast States.
Dr Amadi noted that to tackle the issue in the state, which according to him, other Southeast States like Enugu, Ebonyi, Abia States are doing and they are now ranked as mildly insecure, that there is need to ensure it is not political motivated, and secondly for there to be a reconciliation call for the issues to be properly addressed.
He also appealed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the unconditional release of Nnamdi Kanu.
To further ensure that there is tight security in the state, he opined, “we will work with the federal authorities to have security units that are well trained and well funded with the latest technological gadgets to fish out crime perpetrators.
“We will also equip our people to also defend themselves, and will make our bushes safe again for our people to go back to their farms,’Amadi stated’.
Looking at that of economy, he asserted that there are over 107 industries moribund in the state, that just revitalizing few of them like the Avutu Poultry Farm, Adapalm, and the Shoe factory will create massive employment for the youths, and boost the economy of the state to reduce over dependency on federal Allocations, and WorldBank funds.
This he said is what is obtainable in Aba Market in Abia State, and Onitsha Market in Anambra State where they are making billions of naira in exporting their products.
He presented facts and figures to further buttress his points.
For the educational system, Dr. Amadi commended the State Government, saying that have done noble in the sector, especially as the state, he said, has the lowest level of out of school children.
He continued that a lot still needs to take care of; renovating the government owned schools, and ensuring that it is equipped with qualified teachers, among others, in other to ensure that the system is functioning optimally.
He presented logically illustrations of how revamping the sector in the state, through free education, free feeding programmes, provision of school buses, among others can aid parents spend lesser.
Dr Amadi called on Imo people saying,” it is time for us to do things differently, make your research about me, and I assure you that you will not find anything linked with corruption to my name; I have ran my businesses without any scandal or anything that is criminally minded, so if is tell you that we can institute a policy that will revitalize Imo State to an enviable height, take my word for it, and join hands with me in actualizing it,’Amadi said’.
Speaking earlier, the Chairman of the occasion, Prof Francis Dike, seeing the caliber of personalities that gathered for the event, described Dr. Chima Amadi as a man that is acceptable by people.
He averred that the time has come for the people to have sober reflection over the leadership of the state, adding that Imo is the heartland of the South East, and so needs a leader with a lion heart, which he described Dr. Amadi as one.
Speaking another special guest, Prof. Edna Martin’s Njoku stated that what Imo needs is someone that will add value to the state which she said Dr Amadi has proven to be qualified for owing to his personality, and his “SEE” template
She therefore, urged the people, especially the women, who she said feels the blunt of every challenge, to support Dr Amadi in making Imo a more productive State.
It was an interactive session as the people who were excited over Dr Amadi’s presentation were given opportunity to ask questions, which was responded to by him.
