Dr. Waheed Buruj, Founder and CEO of Buruj Sports Academy, has hailed the invitation of one of the academy’s players, Raheem Moyinoluwa Salaudeen, to the camp of Nigeria’s U15 national football team.
He described the call-up as a testament to the academy’s “Play and Study” initiative, which seamlessly integrates formal education with football training.
Raheem is one of 22 players currently in Abuja preparing for Nigeria’s participation in the inaugural African School Games, scheduled to take place in Algeria from July 26 to August 5, 2025.
The Nigeria Football Federation has carefully selected talented youngsters who excel in both football and academics.
Dr. Waheed expressed pride in the academy’s achievement, stating that the invitation reflects Buruj’s commitment to developing “footballers with brains”.
“The African School Games aligns perfectly with our vision of creating well-rounded athletes who excel both intellectually and physically,” he said.
The astute administrator emphasized that Raheem’s selection validates the effectiveness of the Play and Study model of Buruj Sports Academy, which focuses on grooming individuals who can excel in both sports and academics.
He also encouraged parents and guardians to register their children at the academy as the new academic and football seasons approach.
“Our Play and Study Initiative ensures that your child can pursue their passion for football without compromising their education. This call-up is proof that dreams of playing professional football can coexist with academic excellence,” he added.
The African School Games, organized by the Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA), will feature young athletes aged 14 to 17 competing in 25 sports disciplines.
The event will take place in Algeria’s cities of Constantine, Sétif, Skikda, and Annaba, with Nigeria expected to make a strong showing in football and other sports.
