Anambra State Emerges As Nigeria’s Digital Champion With Four Key NCCIDE Accolades

Anambra State has reinforced its reputation as a frontrunner in technology-driven governance, securing four prestigious awards at the 13th National Council on Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy (NCCIDE) meeting.

 

The conference took place from December 8 to 12, 2025, at Jos’s Crispan Suite & Event Centre, marking another landmark achievement for the southeastern region in the country’s evolving digital space.

Themed “Accelerating Inclusive Digital Transformation: Bridging Gaps and Fostering Sustainable Growth Through Innovation,” the gathering featured key players from federal and state sectors, industry experts, and innovators. Participants engaged in discussions aimed at evaluating digital progress and shaping Nigeria’s future through technology-enabled growth. The event spotlighted collaboration as essential in driving digital inclusion nationwide.

 

A major highlight of the gathering was the States Innovation Peer Review Session (PRS), a forum where individual states showcased breakthroughs in technological advancement and governance improvements. This platform encouraged mutual learning and partnership among the participants. Anambra stood out with compelling presentations that underscored its strategic use of information and communication technologies to enhance public services.

 

Following the presentations, Anambra was awarded the Best Overall State in ICT Development and recognized as the Best State in the nurturing of ICT Human Capital. Moreover, it earned 2nd Runner-Up honors in both Infrastructure Development and eGovernment Implementation, illustrating a well-rounded digital transformation agenda across multiple facets.

These recognitions reflect the visionary and proactive governance of Governor Prof. Chukwuma Charles Soludo, CFR, whose administration has prioritized creating a tech-enabled, economically vibrant Smart Mega City. Investments in broadband connectivity, electronic governance solutions, and skill development initiatives which have been central to positioning Anambra as a model for other states pursuing digital excellence.

Speaking on behalf of the governor, Chukwuemeka Fred Agbata (CFA), Managing Director and CEO of the Anambra State ICT Agency, expressed heartfelt gratitude for the support and leadership provided by Governor Soludo. He credited the state’s accomplishments to a conducive policy environment and an unwavering commitment to the governor’s “Everything Technology, Technology Everywhere” vision. According to CFA, these awards celebrate the teamwork driving Anambra’s ambitious digital agenda.

 

Notably, this achievement marks the second occasion in recent history that Anambra has secured four top awards at the NCCIDE forum, mirroring its successful performance in 2023. The state’s consistent recognition highlights sustained innovation across digital governance, infrastructure growth, human resource training, and the implementation of government services online. Anambra’s ongoing dedication continues to serve as a blueprint for accelerating national development through strategic use of technology.
