The Chairman-Elect of Ikeja Local Government, Comrade Akeem Olalekan Dauda, popularly known as AKOD, joined family, friends, and political associates in honouring the memory of his benefactor and political leader, Late Chief (Mrs.) Olukemi Nelson, at her third-year remembrance thanksgiving held on Sunday, July 20, 2025, at the Archbishop Vining Memorial Church, Ikeja.
Chief (Mrs.) Kemi Nelson, who passed on July 17, 2022, was remembered with deep affection and reverence by all whose lives she touched. The thanksgiving service brought together her immediate family, led by her husband, Daddy Nelson, and a host of political protégés and admirers, led by the Chairman-Elect himself.
The atmosphere was filled with heartfelt reflections on her enduring legacy, a woman of strength, compassion, generosity, and remarkable leadership. Speaker after speaker recalled her tireless mentorship, unwavering support for youth and women in politics, and her boundless commitment to the progressive cause.
In his remarks, Comrade Dauda expressed profound gratitude to God for the life of the late matriarch and celebrated the fulfilment of her dreams, despite the challenges that once stood in the way. He affirmed that her ideals and legacies continue to serve as guiding lights in the journey of public service and community development in Ikeja.
